Webflow Refunds

Webflow's refund policy is short on exceptions, but the exceptions that exist matter. Here's what's refundable, what isn't, and what to do if you've been charged for something you didn't intend to buy.

Subscription Refunds

Webflow typically does not provide refunds for subscription plans. This applies to both monthly and annual payment structures.

In certain situations, such as a mistaken cancellation of a Workspace or Site plan, Webflow support may consider providing an account credit, a promo code, or a refund. These cases are handled individually, and you should contact support for assistance.

Before you get to the refund question, it's worth checking which plan you're actually on, since Site plans and Workspace plans bill separately and people often want a refund on one while the other keeps renewing. Our guide to cancelling a Webflow subscription covers both.

The 14-day Exception for EU, EEA, UK, and Turkey

If you're an individual rather than a business, and you're in the E.U., EEA, U.K., or Turkey, you have a legal right to cancel your subscription and request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase.

Two things disqualify you:

  • The purchase was for business or professional use
  • You've downloaded or installed Marketplace media, which waives the right

This is a legal entitlement rather than a discretionary exception, so it doesn't depend on Webflow's goodwill the way the cases above do.

Cancellation and Renewal

  • Monthly plans are billed in advance and are non-refundable. Cancel any time to stop future charges.
  • Annual plans are billed upfront for the year and are non-refundable. They renew automatically unless you cancel before the current period ends.
  • Downgrading to a lower-tier paid plan does produce a prorated credit, applied automatically at checkout.
  • Downgrading to a free Starter plan produces nothing. No refund and no credit for unused time, whether the downgrade takes effect immediately or at the end of your billing period. This catches people out constantly. Moving from CMS to Basic gets you money back. Moving from CMS to Starter does not.

Marketplace Refunds

Marketplace purchases are final and non-refundable. That covers templates, Libraries, and Apps. Since there's no recourse after the fact, the checks you run before buying are the whole safety net.

  • Templates. Use "Preview in Browser" and "Preview in Webflow" to evaluate the template properly before you buy. The Designer preview matters more than the browser one, since that's where you find out how the template is actually built.
  • Libraries. Use "Open demo site" to explore what the Library does. If you still have questions, contact the creator through their support site.
  • Apps. Contact the creator through the app's support option before purchasing. Refund policies vary by creator here, so check the app's own terms page rather than assuming Webflow's policy applies.

One thing to watch if you're in the EU, EEA, UK, or Turkey: downloading or installing Marketplace media waives your 14-day cooling-off right. The download is the point of no return, not the purchase.

Bandwidth auto-upgrades

If your site goes over its bandwidth limit, Webflow provides complimentary surge protection and notifies you to reduce usage. If usage stays over the limit for a second consecutive billing month, the site is automatically upgraded to a higher-bandwidth Site plan or add-on at the start of the next billing month. Refunds aren't provided for these auto-upgrades.

Add-ons and seats

Add-ons and seats have no free trials and all purchases are final. Webflow doesn't refund unused or unneeded services. You can remove, downgrade, or upgrade an add-on at any time, and prorated credits or charges apply.

Payment and Currency

Ensure your payment details are accurate and up-to-date. If you're paying in a currency other than the U.S. Dollar, be aware that the refund amount may vary from the payment amount due to exchange rate fluctuations.

Sales Tax

Webflow applies sales tax to all applicable invoices based on your billing address, and tax isn't refundable.

If your organisation is tax-exempt, sort it out before you buy. Add your VAT ID to your billing settings, or submit exemption documentation if you're a US-based tax-exempt organisation. Doing it afterwards doesn't retroactively remove tax from invoices you've already paid.

Conclusion

  • Webflow generally doesn't refund anything: plans, add-ons, seats, Marketplace purchases, or sales tax
  • Individuals in the EU, EEA, UK, or Turkey have a legal 14-day right to cancel and get a full refund on an initial purchase, unless it was for business use
  • Downgrading to a lower-tier paid plan produces a prorated credit; downgrading to a free Starter plan produces nothing
  • Accidental purchases and mistaken cancellations are handled case by case, and support may offer a refund, account credit, or promo code

I bought the wrong plan by mistake. Can I get a refund?

This is the most common refund request Webflow gets, usually Workspace plan when a Site plan was intended, or the wrong Workspace tier. It falls under discretionary exceptions rather than a guaranteed refund, so contact support and explain what happened. They may offer account credit, a promo code, or in some cases a refund.

Act quickly. The closer to the charge, the better your case. If you're an individual in the EU, EEA, UK, or Turkey, the 14-day cooling-off right may cover you outright.

One nuance worth knowing: the Workspace plan and Site plan confusion accounts for most of these. A Workspace plan covers seats and collaboration; a Site plan covers hosting and your custom domain. Buying one does not get you the other.

What if Webflow support doesn't respond to my refund request?

Refund requests go through the support portal rather than a phone line or direct billing email, and response times vary. Keep the request in one thread rather than opening new tickets, which resets your place in the queue.

Cancel or downgrade the offending plan while you wait. It stops further charges and doesn't weaken your case. If it's an unauthorised or duplicate charge and support has gone quiet for an extended period, your card issuer's dispute process is the fallback.

I was switched to annual billing and charged for a full year. What now?

Downgrading to a free Starter plan afterwards gets you nothing back, since Starter downgrades never produce credits for unused time. That's what makes this scenario expensive.

If the switch wasn't yours, say so explicitly in the support request and reference the invoice. If you genuinely chose annual and simply regret it, you're relying on the 14-day cooling-off right if you're an EU, EEA, UK, or Turkey individual, and on support's discretion otherwise.

I cancelled but got charged anyway. Why?

Almost always the second billing layer. Site plans and Workspace plans are separate subscriptions, so cancelling one leaves the other renewing on its own schedule. Check both before assuming you're done.

The other cause is a scheduled downgrade that hasn't taken effect yet. Cancelling at the end of the billing period means one more invoice is still expected. Your Workspace billing settings show which plans are active and which are pending cancellation.
